Southern Hunan (Tiantangshan), northeastern Guangxi (Lingui), western and southwestern Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan (Nanjian, Jingdong), western and northeastern Yunnan, and southern to southeastern Tibet.
It is also distributed in India, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, northern Myanmar, and northern Vietnam.
Initially red, turning black, oval, about 8 mm long and 6-7 mm in diameter, with a flattened stone that has a shallow dorsal groove and a deep ventral groove.
