The roots are vertical, about 8-10 cm long and 2.5 mm in diameter, conical in shape, with sparse lateral roots.
The stems are mostly solitary or 4-6 in number, hollow, slightly angular, and sparsely hairy or nearly hairless.
It is a perennial herb, growing to about 15-40 cm tall, sometimes taller.
It flowers from May to August and fruits from July to September.
